Alaska: Best Museum Sights

This trip wasn’t all fishing and exploring, mostly, but not entirely. I did take some time to visit a few museums and to enjoy native Alaskan art, culture and history.

Here are my personal highlights:

Anchorage Museum

The Anchorage museum was the very first place I hit up on my trip. It is a great history and art museum and has a lot of Native Alaska Art and first peoples and tribal artifacts. I spent a couple hours here and thoroughly enjoyed the history of the native peoples as well as their contemporary art, pictured below.

Fairbanks: Museum of the North

The University of Alaska Museum of the North, on the university’s campus, covers the historical and artistic history of the arctic region and peoples. This museum was also on my must do list for Alaska and it didn’t disappoint at all.

Here I focused mostly on the Gallery of Alaska and the natural history of the arctic as well as how the first peoples hunted and fished in one of the most inhospitable places to live.
