Alaska Trip Update: Travel Budgets
As of today’s writing, I am three weeks out from my Alaska Expedition. Planning and logistics are done. Reservations and deposits paid. Travel medical and extraction insurance confirmed.
Gear is ready, field tested and mostly packed.
Let’s break down the budget:
Item | Expense |
Airfare (MIA to ANC first class) | $2,500 * |
All lodging for 3 weeks avg. 200/ night | $4,200 |
fishing guides and float planes + tips | $7,000 |
4×4 off road truck rental 3 weeks | $5,500 |
Other Exp. food, gas, etc. | $2,500 |
Cash for contingencies | $2,000 |
New gear purchased for Alaska (can be repurposed in Iceland) | $2,500 |
Total trip est. | $26,200 |
This trip has been in the planning and financial saving stages for more than a year. Points earned from this year’s Alaska trip will actually pay for most of next year’s Amazon trip (air, lodging and gear).
