Cooper Landing, AK … A River Runs Through It
Right along the Sterling Highway, a little bit off the Seward-Sterling junction sits Copper Landing. I spent four days in this little town by the Kenai River, one of the best rainbow trout fisheries in the world.
By the numbers
Four days is more than the town has gas stations (2), restaurants (3), grocery stores (1) or bars (3), give or take. However, there are plenty of fishing guides and outfitters throughout and near the town.
More than a River
When not fishing (see report here), I enjoyed the late sunsets (around midnight) to explore and drive backroads especially around the upper lakes and looking for wildlife.
Saw plenty of moose and small mammals. No bears, other than the one in my cabin!
