Hatch Chiles and Tequila in New Mexico
Having just completed my 50-state quest with a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, I’ve been thinking about what to write about. in the first of a blog series on Santa Fe, I want to focus on what go me through severe tooth pain (I needed root canal when I got back from the trip)!
Besides popping extra strength Tylenol (1000 mg) and Advil (800 mg) like Skittles, I mostly ate soft foods, and fell in love with green hatch Chiles in all their culinary forms. Tequila and margaritas also helped! One night I had carne asada with hatch Chiles, but it was difficult to eat the steak, but I managed to eat it all (yummy).

I pretty much ate only Huevos Rancheros for breakfast with ground chorizo and green hatch Chile rellenos for dinner, cheese stuffed peppers served with rice and beans. The dinners were followed by copious amounts of tequila, both for the enjoyment as well as pain management.
