Welcome to the Jungle

It’s ten days and a wake-up and I’m in the Amazon. Finally.

I Arrive in Manaus, the capital of Amazonas State and after a couple of days of hanging out in the city in the Amazon, I’ll head out for a jungle fishing expedition.

Getting there is half the Fun

Our group of 8 anglers head out on a bush plane from Manaus to the Rio Roosevelt Lodge about 520 km deep in the jungle at the confluence of the Rio Roosevelt and the Rio Aripuanã. From there it’s about a four hour boat ride down the Aripuanã to the lodge on the Rio Guariba.

The GPS coordinates are on the map below of the Lodge.

Once at the lodge it’s six days of hardcore fishing for real river monsters such as the Payara (Vampire fish) or giant peacock bass and other apex amazon predators.

As with my Alaska expedition last year, I will be shooting tons of video and creating other content to be edited and published once back in civilization.
