Alaska Trip: Denali

This leg of the trip centers around Denali using the town of Talkeetna as my basecamp for close to a week. Denali National Park and Preserve encompasses 6 million acres of Alaska’s interior wilderness. Its centerpiece is 20,310-ft.-high Denali (fka Mount McKinley), North America’s tallest peak.

Two days fishing including a fly-in trip to a glacier fed lake deep the Denali preserve. Plan is to land o the lake and fish the rivers that feed it.

Drive, Hike, Fly. Raft. it’s the only way to experience this section of Alaska. Most of the national park roads are closed, but I do plan on driving as far as it’s open and mine a few trails within the National Park.

Flying / Flightseing

One excursion I will be doing is a flight seeing trip on a chartered plane within the park, including landing on a glacier for some very high altitude hiking. This is in addition to the float plane for fishing.
