Ancient Native American Petroglyphs
The ancient native American petroglyphs at the V Bar V ranch site are the largest known petroglyph site in Arizona’s Verde Valley, and also one of the best-preserved.
My wife and I went there for a day trip outside of Sedona over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The petroglyphs are a short hike through high desert trails from the main entrance of the Heritage site.
Arriving at the actual site you are first presented with a high cliff wall full of petroglyphs. the petroglyphs are from about 900 AD to 1400 AD. the main propose of these were both religious / spiritual and a solar calendar used for planting and religious ceremonies.
