Bronco Nation Off-Roadeo — Extreme 4×4 Training Course

Part of planning for adventures in off-grid locations is being prepared for all kinds of emergencies and contingencies, including handling off road vehicles in all types of terrain.

Recently I bought my first 4×4 off road truck, a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands and I wanted to get in some professional off road training.

Ford offers all new Bronco owners a 2-day 4×4 training in different off road situations from rocks, sand, gravel, mud, water and steep inclines and declines — up to 27 degrees!

Bronco Off-Roadeo

Bronco Off-Roadeo is an off-roading and outdoor adventure with experiences designed to challenge and excite both novices (like me) and experts. I participated in the Bronco off-roadeo at a custom built off-road trails on a 400 acre ranch deep in Texas Hill Country.

Over the course of two days we did rock crawling, climbing steep inclines, downhill, driving on 3 wheels on uneven terrain as well as crossing water and mud obstacles. We even did vehicle recovery and simulated rescues.

To say it was a blast is an understatement. But most importantly it gave me confidence to handle anything the roads in Alaska, including the Dalton Highway, featured on Ice Road Truckers, can throw at me.
