While there are several old abandoned gold dredges in and around Alaska, this one is not a tourist trap and is not easy to access, as it requires a hike to get there once you find it!

Chatanika gold Dredge is about 30 miles north of Fairbanks on the Old Steese highway.

Worth a visit

As Seen on Atlas Obscura, this rusty hulk of a gold dredge which operated from the 1920s to 1960s, reminds me of a perfect James Bond villain hideout or a perfect place for a gangster shootout.
